Flea treatment in Sydney

Fleas lay eggs that fall off your pet into carpets, bedding and the yard. Treating the pet alone won't fix it. The house and yard need treating too, at the same time.

Which fleas are we dealing with?

Cat fleaCtenocephalides felis

The flea on most cats and dogs in Australia, despite the name. Pupae can sit dormant for months, then hatch when they sense vibration.

Signs to look for

  • Small itchy bites around ankles and lower legs
  • Pets scratching, biting at their skin or losing fur
  • Black specks (flea dirt) in pet bedding that turn red on wet paper
  • Fleas jumping onto white socks when you walk on carpet

Fleas around Sydney

Many leases across Sydney require a flea treatment when a pet has lived in the property. We provide a tax invoice that your agent will accept.

What you can do yourself

  • Treat every pet with a vet-recommended product on the same day as our treatment
  • Wash pet bedding on a hot cycle
  • Vacuum daily for 2 weeks after treatment and empty the vacuum outside

How we treat fleas

We treat carpets, rugs, hard floors along edges, under furniture, pet sleeping areas and shaded outdoor areas with an insecticide plus an insect growth regulator that stops eggs and larvae from developing. Pupae are protected by their cocoon, so you may see some fleas for up to 2 weeks as they hatch into treated surfaces. Keep vacuuming to speed it up.

How to prepare

  • Vacuum all floors thoroughly just before we arrive
  • Pick up items off the floor, including toys and shoes
  • Take pets out for the day and treat them before they come home
